This Web page contains musical performances from the Vinnitsa Jewish community. The performances have been digitized (in AIFF, WAV, and RealAudio formats) from a videocassette which the Vinnitsa Region Jewish Community kindly made as a gift for me during the summer of 1996. Below the description of each digitized sound is a small image of the peformance captured from the video.
Although the sounds are monophonic and there is some hiss (and distortion with the RealAudio 14.4k files), I believe that the stirring content more than compensates for any shortcomings of the recordings. For your evaluation, I include a sample immediately below from one of the digital sounds -- a 7-second excerpt from Rosa Shevchenka's performance in Vinnitsa's Jewish Community Center. If you feel that the quality is acceptable, I invite you to play/download the full-length sounds from this page.
Rosa Shevchenka 7-second sample [ AIFF | WAV | RealAudio (28.8k) ]
Please let me know if you have any problems, questions, or suggestions. Thank you very much for your time, consideration, and patience -- and I hope that you enjoy listening to these performances from the Vinnitsa region.
Cordially,
